There are few new or future vehicles as painfully stunning as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. There is a combination of power and elegance that seems to be absent from the new car market. We almost don’t want to know how much such a vehicle costs, lest we come to grips with the tragic reality.
And how we have that price. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe will arrive in the UK in September, with a starting price of £96,565. That translates to a little more than $165,000, though this has not been the confirmed price for the North American market.
That price is for the entry-level S500 Coupe, powered by a 4.7-liter twin-turbo V8, making 449 horsepower. But Mercedes-Benz will kick off with the S63 AMG Coupe (above), at a price of £124,715 (north of $210,000). It’s 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 makes 557 horsepower, allowing it to get from zero to sixty in just 3.9 seconds.
The S63 will be followed immediately by the S65 AMG Coupe (above), with its 621 horsepower twin-turbo V12 engine. This range-topping version of the S-Class Coupe will set UK buyers back at least £183,065 ($309,000). Remember, these are UK-only prices, and the US conversions are merely to give some perspective. Let’s be real though, even when the more accurate prices are available, very few of you will be able to count yourselves among those who could actually afford an S-Class Coupe!
