Volkswagen Tiguan SUV now features more powerful and efficient diesel engines, plus new infotainment system

Volkswagen has introduced a range of later-life updates for the Tiguan SUV, with cleaner and more powerful engines being introduced as well as the latest in-car tech.

Output from the 138bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine has been increased to 147bhp, while the higher-powered version now develops 181bhp, up from 174bhp - with CO2 emissions for both also falling by 17g/km. VW claims all engines are now compliant with EU6 emission standards.

The SUV also now features an updated infotainment system. Composition Colour and Composition Media now feature, with a new colour touchscreen, eight loudspeakers and various connections for external mobile devices. The navigation system will also come with the VW online service package 'Guide & Inform' as standard.

More options for the Tiguan include App Connect which can be added to the radio and radio navigation system. The feature integrates and enables the use of smartphone apps from the Google and Apple stores. Another Tiguan debut is the Media Control, an app-based extension of the infotainment system which allows a tablet to control various functions such as navigation input and selecting radio stations.
