The new Opel Corsa is not only extremely good looking, it is also a real fuel saving champion. The three-door 70 kW/95 hp 1.3 CDTI ecoFlex with Start/Stop technology fitted as standard, braking energy recuperation and low-rolling-resistance tires combined with the new Easytronic 3.0 transmission can reduce CO2 emissions to 82 grams per kilometer. Fuel consumption is down to exemplary 3.1 liters per 100 kilometers for the combined cycle making the new Corsa the most economical Opel presently on the market and the most economical diesel available. The eco-champion will be available in Germany from March.
“Our automated five-speed manual transmission in the new Corsa is a real highlight for price-conscious customers who do not want to miss the comfort of an automatic,” said Peter Christian Küspert, Vice President Sales & Aftersales Opel Group. “When combined with the frugal diesel the small car becomes an efficiency giant. Therefore, it is perfect for both short urban shopping trips and longer journeys.”
Economical: Standard consumption of only 3.1 l/100 km with 82g/km CO2
The fundamentally revamped diesel engine with 70 kW/ 95 hp and maximum torque of 190 Nm at 1,750 – 3,500 rpm in combination with a latest generation turbocharger allows for superior drive and acceleration even at low revs while simultaneously being extremely quiet. A water pump, operational when required, and a variable oil pump contribute to the exemplary consumption and CO2 values. Furthermore, the specially developed low-rolling-resistance tires and the Opel braking energy recuperation system also play an important part. With these innovations the three-door Corsa with the new Easytronic 3.0 transmission only uses 3.1 liter per 100 kilometers and emits a mere 82 grams of CO2 per kilometer, three grams less than with a manual five-speed gearbox (according to regulation [EC] No. 715/2007), thus seeing it qualify for efficiency class A+.
The IntelliLink system of the new Opel Corsa is fully iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Android compatible, including their speech recognition technologies. Other systems are restricted to hands-free phone and audio streaming vie Bluetooth. The most important functions are:
-Hands-free operation via Bluetooth for up to 5 mobile phones including telephone book and call list.
-Audio streaming over Bluetooth and USB with title or album cover on display. -Display function for pictures, films and videos over USB. For safety, only still pictures are shown when under way using Siri Eyes Free on the iPhone.
-Sending and vocal output of SMS messages when under way.
Dynamic driving refinement: Ever since the first small car, engineers have been trying to achieve the ‘big car ride’. The new Opel Corsa is proof that it can be done. Outstanding handling and comfort is the result of totally revised and refined suspension, including th following modifications:
- Reinforced subframe
- Lowered center of gravity
- Modified damper and spring rates
The new 3-cylinder 1.0 Turbo ECOTEC Direct Injection engine delivers a silky smooth 85 kW (115 hp) with 170 Nm of torque. Its economy is as impressive as its performance and smooth running characteristics. To match this advance a new manual 6-speed manual transmission is ready to let you fully optimize your driving pleasure.
But you can also choose the ecoFLEX version of the 1.0 Turbo ECOTEC Direct Injection with 66 kW (90 hp) with even lower consumption and emissions, or the 1.2 and 1.4 liter 4-cylinder petrol engines.
Diesel? No problem. Advanced, civilized 1.3 CDTI ECOTEC engines with a choice of 55 kW (75 hp) or 70 kW (95 hp) are ready and waiting. Factory-fitted LPG is coming soon.
Bi-Xenon headlamps: Seeing where you are going just got easier, and better looking. The new Opel Corsa can be equipped with Bi-Xenon light power and static cornering lights to let you see where you’re steering. Optionally it comes also with High Beam Assist, safing you the effort of dipping up and down. And, in addition to the near daylight quality and the wide reaching light pattern of the Bi-Xenon headlamps, the Opel signature wing motif LED Daytime Running Lights is yet another safety bonus.
Completely revised, more refined and now also Euro 6 compliant 1.3 CDTI engines with 55 kW/75 hp and 70 kW/95 hp expand the Corsa’s powertrain offer. At launch, the most frugal Corsa diesel variant – with 70 kW/95 hp, a five-speed manual gearbox and braking energy recuperation system – can reduce the three-door model‘s CO2 emissions down to 85 g/km and fuel consumption down to 3.2 l/100 km over the combined cycle. This earns it the German A+ energy efficiency label (according to Regulation [EC] No 715/2007).
