Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Price Announced for the US Market

If you want to have the pleasure of being able to toss out part of the roof on the Alfa Romeo 4C, you'll have to pay a $10,000 premium over the coupe in the States.

On Friday, Alfa released US and Canadian pricing for their new 4C Spider, which arrives in dealership later this summer starting at $63,900 MSRP, excluding $1,595 destination – we're not entirely sure if the price is common for both countries, but that's how FCA worded it in their press blurb.

More of a targa than a real Spider, the open-top 4C gets a standard fabric roof or an optional carbon fiber hardtop, while other extras include 18-in. front and 19-in. rear alloy wheels instead of the standard 17-in. and 18-in. rims respectively, those horrible-looking bug-eyed carbon fiber light surrounds (you may want to skip this), and a more rowdy Akrapovic sports exhaust with mid-mounted pipes.

You can choose from seven exterior colors: Rosso Alfa (Red), Black, White, Basalt Gray Metallic, Rosso Competizione Tri-coat (Red), Madreperla White Tri-coat and all-new Giallo Prototipo (Yellow).

For the interior, there are six available combinations, including two seat material choices: Black leather with Red accent stitching, Red leather with Black accent stitching, new Black leather with Giallo accent stitching, and exclusive to the Track Package – Black racing leather seats with microfiber inserts and Red or Yellow accent stitching. Another option is contrasting Tobacco leather seats accompanied with Black leather Interior accented with Tobacco stitching that will be offered later in the year.

The Spider has the same 237hp 1.75-liter turbocharged four mounted behind the driver and connected to a standard twin-clutch transmission with paddle shifters that push the 4C to 60mph (96km/h) in 4.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 160mph (257km/h), as the coupe.

Seeing the kind of prices that owners / flippers are demanding for existing 4C coupes (if you can find one) due to limited availability, we'd say that, if you really want a 4C Spider, you'd better get in line and pre-order as soon as possible…
