The C4 Cactus is powered by Citroen's latest-generation engines. These modern and efficient engines, PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel with Stop & Start, need very little fuel to run. The gasoline powered are the naturally aspirated three-cylinder PureTech VTi 82 engine with capacity of 1.2l and the turbocharged PureTech e-THP 110 engine with a central direct-injection turbocharger and dual VVT.
This 1.2-litre petrol powertrain is the most powerful engine option in the Citroen C4 Cactus range and offers 108bhp and 205Nm of torque which proves more than enough to accelerate quickly away from the lights or busy junctions. It'll cover 0-62mph in 9.3 seconds, and top speed is 117mph.
The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox and the suspension is soft and comfortable making easy work of many of the potholes and bumps.
Good on the motorway and around the country lanes too, the steering is light and the drive itself is a characterful one with plenty of grip on offer around the corners.
Headline figures are pretty good too with 107g/km of CO2 which will help to keep tax costs low for both retail buyers and company car drivers and an official fuel consumption figure of 60.1mpg. On test with us we achieved 40mpg on a variety of short and long trips in the city and out in the country.
