2014 Scion FR-S T1 Targa Turbo Concept

Head-Turning Targa Top FR-S
That is a turbocharged, targa-fied FR-S that’s probably as perfect as you can get in a pure sportscar.

The Scion FR-S T1 has been developed in-house by Toyota's youth focused brand, and includes performance enhancements such as a GReddy turbocharger and modified exhaust system, complete with a centrally-mounted rear tailpipe. A larger brake kit has also been installed.

On top of its targa roof assembly, the FR-S T1 sports larger wheel arches, a lip style spoiler, louvres for the rear window and a larger rear diffuser. It wears 19-inch forged alloy wheels and sits closer to the ground courtesy of new coil-over suspension.

Inside, the FR-S T1 has been re-worked with different seats, steering wheel, and dashboard and door trim materials in light tan leather. The standard 86's tight rear seats have been replaced by storage bins and necessary space for the targa roof panel.

The FR-S T1 will be formally unveiled at the SEMA aftermarket show in Las Vegas, which runs from Tuesday and is a showcase for aftermarket and specialty equipment but typically attracts significant investment from the big car makers.

High quality craftsmanship and an open-air experience came together in the Scion FR-S T1, built by Jeremy Lookofsky of Cartel Customs. The two-tone combination features a black targa top and custom color – Azzuro California Blue – over a muscular, all-metal wide body and integrated rear spoiler. The vehicle has been lowered and sits on custom 19-inch forged wheels. Other vehicle highlights include:

High-mounted custom center exhaust
GReddy street turbo kit
KW coil-over suspension
Wilwood Big Brake Kit with custom nickel-plated finish
OEM Audio+ System 400 complemented by a Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX head unit

“It’s an honor being involved with Scion for the seventh consecutive year bringing design concepts to reality and setting the bar for the SEMA Show,” Lookofsky said. “We have won two Mothers® design awards and SEMA fan favorite awards throughout the years, and I’m pretty confident our FR-S will come home on a positive note as well.”
