Bulli Concept; This is one bus worth waiting for
The new “Bulli Concept” gives a nostalgic wink to the classic Volkswagen microbus, 60 years after its original debut. At the same time, It’s an unmistakable example of Volkswagen’s commitment to innovation.
The Bulli is designed with an electric powertrain and completely interactive driver interface, integrating an iPad touch screen.
It also has a more compact footprint than any of its predecessors, while still offering comparable interior space. The “Bulli Concept” has been designed thoughtfully and thoroughly. It may have been inspired by the past, but it’s fully loaded for the future.
It is a Microbus, which has six seats in a 3+3 configuration. It is pretty spacious, too – 3 990mm in length, 1750mm in width and 1700mm in height. The wheelbase is 2620 mm, which is only 40mm longer than Golf VI. The track is 1500mm, which is needed for the big seats.
The exterior boasts two-tone paint, a large V on the bonnet and 18” alloys and chrome hubcaps.
The interior features iPad, a rotary switch on the dash to engage the forward and reverse gears and pretty much this is everything. There are no gear shift or tachometer.
It is powered by an electric motor with 115PS (85 kW) and 260Nm (192 lb-ft). 0 to 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds and top speed is limited to 140 km/h (87 mph).
However, the concept will also receive VW petrol and diesel engines, if it hits the market.
