STOP & START: Automatically turns off the engine when the Renault Clio is stopped and in neutral, cutting down on emissions, fuel consumption and noise. Restarts instantly, smoothly and without vibrations. (Available on all manual engines)
ENERGY SMART MANAGEMENT (ESM): By recovering kinetic energy when braking and decelerating, ESM optimises the consumption of electrical energy and helps recharge the battery.
ACTIVE AIR SHUTTERS: Automatically adjust the flow of air through the radiator to the engine's cooling requirements, improving the vehicle's aerodynamics and fuel consumption.
The Renault Clio was the first to introduce the Renault Energy TCe 90 engine, which combines outstanding driving pleasure and lower running costs. This 3-cylinder, 900 cc turbo petrol engine delivers 90 hp and provides efficient pick-up and acceleration at all engine speeds. Driving in town is pleasant, because 90% of the maximum torque (135 Nm) can be used from 1650 rpm to avoid frequent gear changes. Equipped with Stop and Start technology, its (combined) fuel consumption & CO2 emissions are just 62.7 mpg and 104 g/km and just 65.7 mpg with emissions of 99g/km on the reduced emission version.
Innovative Overboost technology* provides Energy engines with increased levels of acceleration. Temporary additional torque and power, the Overboost allows more responsive starts from take-off and improved acceleration at wide open throttle. This improves both driving pleasure and confidence; facilitating exits at crossroads, merging from entry slip roads and overtaking.
