The Ford Fusion offers three gasoline engines and two hybrid powerplants. In addition to the standard 2.5L Duratec I-4 engine, there are three available EcoBoost engines – 1.5L, 1.6L and 2.0L – that offer an excellent combination of power and efficiency.

The 1.6L EcoBoost engine comes with a manual transmission. The 1.5L engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and can be equipped with Auto Start-Stop, which shuts off the engine when you come to a stop and seamlessly restarts it when you release the brake.

To help maximize efficiency while lowering carbon emissions, the Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi Plug-In Hybrid powerplants each feature a gas engine and electric motor. Both models also have regenerative braking, which captures most of the braking energy that would otherwise be lost and uses it to help recharge the vehicle.
